Recently, we had the pleasure of working with Xenia - a purpose-built childcare facility located within Lutwyche City Shopping Centre. Market Central Lutwyche is located on busy Lutwyche Road, which is the major arterial that runs north-south from Brisbane City. Lutwyche City is 5kms north of the Brisbane CBD.

Xenia needed a shade solution to protect children and staff from the harsh Queensland sun and rain, and they turned to us for help. Initially, they asked us to supply and install a single 14 x 7.2m hip and ridge shade structure. However, upon seeing our designs, they recognized the potential to improve their outdoor areas and decided to install two structures instead.

As with any project, we faced some design challenges, particularly related to the capacity of the existing slab to accommodate bending moment loads. However, our team of experts was up to the task. We designed the larger barrel vault structure with a moment resisting top frame assembly, ensuring that the outdoor space at Xenia is both safe and enjoyable for all.
